General Machinist – Laboratory

Overview:
We are currently seeking a General Machinist to join our team to work in the Laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a machining background.
Hours of work:
Monday – Friday 7:30 – 16:00
This is a full-time position based in Wednesbury.
The General Machinist will be responsible performing day to day machining of sample test pieces.
Responsibilities:

• Machining samples to international testing criteria
• Operating, Setting and Programming CNC and XYZ machines.
• Programming wire Eroder machine to produce impact specimens.
• Maintaining the CNC and XYZ Machines for day-to-day use.
• Operating milling machine to produce impact specimens.
• Operating surface grinder machine to produce impact specimens.
• Operating the saw for cutting specimens.

Experience:

• Experience of operating general machines or experience within a toolroom environment (Advantageous).
• Good understanding of customer specifications/machining skills and testing criteria.
• Must possess a good understanding of general machining practices.
• Understanding ASTM/BS EN Requirements for machines test samples (Not essential but desirable)
• Good understanding of customer specifications/machining skills and testing criteria.
• You will have been responsible for the quality of your own work
• The successful candidate will need to have experience operating machinery and working in a metal manufacturing (Essential).

Full training will be required to the successful candidate.
Salary will be negotiated depending on experience.
